Women's Form $185 |
Minimalist designs-with zero drop construction, anatomical lasts (REALFIT™), no tongue-(so annoying), a natural outsole shape, and wide toe boxes ---but not too wide-a complaint we-and other women we know- have with some 'minimalists' designs that look kinda like Clown shoes---and thus-we can't run in them naturally-
-Pittards® leather upper and lining leather that has been tanned using the WR100X® process to improve permanent water resistance properties, but is still breathable...and allows air to pass through the treated leather |
..this fairly new, Portland Oregon based running shoes company has expanded its offering for Spring 2013-with kickers for trails, tracks and streets, and we think, stylish enough for pounding the pavement to work - with models that have an eye-catching asymmetrical lacing--- a feature that actually assures a great fit...holding the upper comfortably/snugly over the ball girth of the foot.
Anti-microbial sockliner |
High Abrasion Rubber outsoles-designed for natural motion-with curved profile, concave forefoot, low profile treads-with anatomical flex grooves-allow for natural movement |
Upper materials-include abrasion resistant, breathable and water resistant
Pittards® Armor-Tan® Goat Leather that molds to the foot, practically-or Airmesh with laminated reflective overlays (no sew)...and
Ortholite® sock liners.
Airmesh upper, reflective overlays (no sew)...abrasion resistant rubber outsole |
We demo-ed a pair of FORM running shoes-that fit us like a glove-with excellent ground feel---secure heel fit ---meaning we weren't sliding around, AND bravo too-no chafing aka hot spots that might have caused us to keep re-lacing.
We tried them on tar pavement byways in our local park, and around the track when doing (boring) sprint work and def. felt there was enough outsole protection that works on hard pavement too. .
For shorter distances (meaning under 10k) ---these were ideal...featherweight...our pace probably a bit faster as a result. And actually, we felt like we didn't have shoes on in a way---because we were unaware of them. A good thing...unlike the aforementioned minimalists shoes with too wide a toe box.
High textile stretch upper-with a socklike fit, the nylon X-strap system of the BASE-with an elastic heel strap, reflective details, stitch down construction, high abrasion rubber outsole, anti-micorbial sock liner $110 |
Base-stretch mesh sock fit...curved section forefoot and heel-subtle but for natural whole-foot gait |
high abrasion rubber outsole |
Bonus points-stitch down construction that adds to durability and is a costlier way to produce shoes ...and eliminates extra seams inside the shoe for great fit with or without sock liner.
stitch down construction, tab helps for easy on-off, reflective detail |
PHASE -airmesh upper with an anti-slip microfiber heelpad, IBR (injected Blown Rubber) outsole, rubber toe bumper, stitch down construction, reflective details...trail ready |
