Well a serendipitous event when we don't expect it---and while we're attending one of our favorite tradeshows...Outdoor Retailer/SLC=YES!
WHAT:
Levi Strauss & Company and Filson are two iconic, authentic American brands---each with a history of production that span over a century of production.
This matters as consumers begin to slog off the recession's restrictive grasp on all things ---and desire the vintage, tried and true, durable American brands that mean something, that make the classics (separates & haulers) that we want always...out of fabrics that RULE).
When we got the email from Levi's about their latest creative marketing collab---with Filson, a clothing and accessories line that we've been adoring since we started covering Outdoor Retailer (see our latest)
----we hoofed it over to the later's exhibit space in the Salt Lake Palace at 9 AM --- and we are so not morning people. No matter. We had to see in person.
THE GOODS:
Menswear---that's dubbed workwear-inspired (ugh, no women??????---worthy of the gals buying the small sizes!!!!!!)...
LOVE---it all.
We saw well made sturdy denim clothing blessed with Filson's signature materials like the oil finish Tin Cloth (water resistant and originally for outdoorsy types like fishermen---for the Levi's classic Trucker Jacket), Rugged Twill, and Bridal Leather trims on the apparel (a 'functional' shooting shirt) and accessories like duffels, totes etc.
And vice versa---like the Filson Cruiser jacket out of Levi's iconic durable denim.
Bravo---we were told that Levi's approached the Seattle based Filson and got it going...another A+ for the goldminer's fav jeans company of choice...fresh off initiatives with Brooks Brothers, Robert Geller and Opening Ceremony.
WE MISSED: The cap...sure to be atop every hpister's head.

Scoop up the limited edition collectibles why they are out there...at select retail stores and online at the respective websites.
