Ilana Sunderland has designer talent in her DNA. “I descended from centuries of Scottish tailors,” she told us…after we picked up our dropped jaws. Which went all wide for good reasons.

Sunderland’s collection is her second… and her polished, impeccable lineup should have the retail buyers all jazzed over the wonderfully draped and pleated silk charmeuse, some woven with leather- and chiffon dresses. Plus elegant short cocktail and long coats in wool crepe.

For men the handsome Savile Row worthy suits are in single and double breasted jackets featuring single and double baroque pleated lapels and layered under have forever cashmere overcoats.

Men’s colors include Espresso, a rich brown, (duh) Midnight black, and Onyx (a subtle brown/ red)…while the ladies had solids and an “Espresso Tartan” and “IS Tartan” and custom animal prints in the mix.

In general, the lean silhouettes and high tailored garb seemed cozy warm to the eye…but according to Sunderland “because of a special draping technique, the clothes feel like you are wearing nothing…weightless.”

“I believe in everyone,” Sunderland declared…I believe in food, shelter…and investment dressing.”
