SOHO, NYC

Showroom visits are always worth the time, especially when the designer represented are as talented as the ones we checked at Nouveau PR...an agency we first met in Berlin, a few years back.
HIGHLIGHTS-Fall 2012
New to us, NYC based/made, Taiwanese native Shui Chen---showed edgy separates that would work in some work environment-given the classic modern shapes...
including our favs-the knit pieces...
A.F. Vandevorst-a married couple---had a pop-up shop at the most recent NYFW---modern separates, and a well thought out design mantra, as it were...
Here, we marveled at the shoes/belts-part of their "Fetish" collection...really artistic creations as these bejeweled shoes/boots were clearly embellished by hand.
TO Long Nam is aVietnamese, German raised, now Paris based, fashion designer ---who had some of the most precisely designed/constructed/sewn modern trousers, jackets, suits---inspired possibly by butterflies...that we ever saw...and we noticed them minute we walked into the showroom.
Handcrafted pieces...silver items---like modern armor-we thought but aka the artist's "Bevel"-taking a philosophical cue from Joseph Campbell---(read the 411 on the website)
...Loved these items by jeweler Jonathan Lloyd Goldstein---who is Manhattan based. Reasonably priced too...set-up for e-commerce and also sold downtown boutiques.
We missed ODLION's presentation (by Stacey Clark) during NYFW---and gladly caught up with her autumnal pieces...including these grown-up bomber style shearling jackets with leather toggle enclosures...that war shown with matching wide leg trousers. (Presentation pics)
Spain's Pedro Garcia has a glamourous collection of silk, leather, and bedazzled shoes/sandals/boots...sold at posh stores like Bergdorf's...
Barbara Briones incorporates shiny metal, textured leather/skins to great effect in her sexy shoe collection...made by artisans in her native Chile...though her cobbler background includes high-end stints at Ferragamo in Florence, Italy and Mulberry in London. It shows---these are sophisticated kickers that are keepers!
MANDY COON had marvelous digital prints on her sheaths---inspired by the insects/wildlife and topography from a Nicaraguan trip.
Another big plus-the designer's fabulous collaboration with Barbara Briones---for these terrific steel toe, block heeled boots and platforms---softened with delicate straps.
