Truth be told, we were having such a swell time at Gala Magazine’s brunch-that we missed the runway show for the design team Constanze G. González and Paul Scherer.
We did hear how amazing the shoes were –let alone the gowns that were presented…that we made of point of visiting the Red Carpet section at the Premium Tradeshow in Berlin…where the designer priced line had a huge booth and garbed mannequins throughout the space.
Fortunately, we were there on a lull and got some chat time with a sales rep who clued us in about the collection…beginning with the observation that;
“Berlin is very streetwear but this line is different. The designers knew ‘we must do something different…to open the viewer’s eyes and make a new connection to fashion for them.”
We think this label, in business since 2004…is exceptional. Fabrics such as dutchess satin, cashmere, and snakeskin-are treated with special dyes and vintages washes yielding bright sunny tones and lovely darker shades of grey.
Exclusively made for the line in France and Italy--- some textile samples are amazingly detailed. One example we loved was glorious silk short sleeved dress in yellow and pink, jazzed up with hand applied paint splatters.
Swarovski Crystals, a Fashion Week sponsor, sparkles up two dresses of the line too…including a sexy pink silk chiffon sleeveless one-with tucks and gathered folds that slim the body.
We were also particularly taken with chic, feminine separates that would work in a formal office as well as a later in the day cocktail soirée…like the stripped dove gray/ charcoal grey silk skirt.
“We want to be on top…we love John Galliano.”
Yup, we see that...in the laced up corsetry- and deconstructed way the dresses and gowns are then ingeniuously put together.
Plus, every item is fitted for a womanly silhouette –so wearers will feel special and beautiful in anything by this duo.
PRICES: Since so of these pieces are custom ordered, the prices range widely…from 200 EUROS and up for tops and pants, 700 Euros and up for dresses- at retail prices.
Some of the glam red carpet stunners go up to 12, 000 EUROS and are as close to couture as we have seen in Germany.
RETAIL: IN select boutiques-see the website SCHERER & Gonzalez for locations throughout Europe.
