Yankee Stadium JomboTron Launches PSA Kicking off a National Health + Career Conference

September 17, 2012, New York City:     Fatigues to Fabulous is proud to announce the launch of its official public service announcement (PSA) in support of the nation’s female veterans.  This PSA is hosted by model / actress / designer Erin Wasson and features five women veterans.  Dressed by DKNY, these women, representing the millions of women veterans across America, were honored centerfield by the New York Yankees with player No.33 Nick Swisher dashing to home plate to personally greet these patriotic women. The PSA was broadcast on the JumboTron to the tens of thousands of fans in attendance and our veterans were greeted with a standing ovation. DKNY distributed 10,000 teddy bears named HERO to children attending the game in honor of our women warriors.

There will be almost 3 million women veterans by 2020 and the system is not yet able to handle this ever-growing group of veterans with unique needs differing than their male counterparts.

Fatigues to Fabulous is a collaboration between three 501c3 organizations – Grace After Fire, The Society for Women’s Health Research, and Business and Professional Women’s Foundation with a distinct mission to assist female veterans transition into civilian life with a focus on health + economic issues.  The program kicks-off in Washington DC January 2013 with a health + career conference at Women in Military Service for America Memorial followed by a national tour servicing the regions where our nation’s veterans reside.

Honored vets....

·      Donna Barrios – US Air force – active reserves
·      Jessica Otten – Master Sargent (ret) US Air force
·      Leslie Nichole Smith – Captain (ret) US Army + wounded warrior
·      Lisa Dalhouse – Petty Officer First Class – US Navy
·      Tracy Balan – Specialist US Army – wounded warrior

Oasis Day Spa, 1 Park Avenue, NYC volunteered its salon services to makeover these women for the shooting of the PSA.  Oasis, taking the presidential directive to hire more veterans seriously, has actively sought to hire veterans including US Army specialist Tracy Balan - stylist + extension specialist as well as a wounded warrior.  Women warriors comprise 15% of the US military and are a tight community. This group of veterans quickly welcomed her into the group and it didn’t take long to convince her to jump in the PSA joining them in a campaign to support all women veterans.

Fatigues to Fabulous is supported by Cisco Systems, IMG Models, DKNY and the New York Yankees.  A copy of this PSA resides on Youtube and F2F is encouraging the digital sites to embed and share.  A social media campaign will coincide to include Facebook + Twitter.
