COTTE D'ARMES by Clarence Ruth/Spring 2013 Presentation

Thompson Hotel, LES-NYC

Bone knit tank remind us of chainmail pattern knights wore as  a base layer, back in the day. With blue drop crotch shorts and black leggings (Ambrose)...and on Diania-a grey half sleeve button down, black long sleeve crop body, raw bleach drop crotch denim shorts

If you remember when acid washed jeans were "it"...(we do)...well needless to say the edgy collection shown by Clarence Ruth---the designer of Cotte D'Armes (french for Coat of Armor---)---was a revelation on that finishing concept.

Actually, the painted bleach designs paired with other cleanly crafted separates that were for the most part, unisex...made for a well buzzed about, early NY Fashion Week event.

separates have in patterns---that subtly reminded us of chainmail too--with black insets

With a packed calendar...we got there a bit on the early side...

Right away...the denim stands out-notice the seamed constructions/articulated darts on the jeans, well-the heavy metal armor construction----that helped a medieval knight move about in days of yore. Modern times---fencing and motorcycle attire -that's fitted also---has this.

Other standouts include this cool denim biker jacket---pictured below...that ould look as good on a gal as a guy.

criss cross lacing at sides---deft reference to armor construction

Sasha-denim S/S shirt, bone L/S jersey shirt, black biker pants

Layered tops and leggings-for guys and a cohesive palette of greys, dark green, black and this bold cobalt blue.
