DISCOVERED BY THE AMERICAS! FFANY-Hilton Hotel, NYC June 11th, 200 9 Words, Images Judith Ecochard Elegant sexy peds for contemporary women (on both sides of the Pond)--- were highlights of the footwear served up by the Spanish brand Pura López . We knew of the strong reputation for quality and craftsmanship that this shoe brand has earned in Europe…that’s 100% made in Spain. So it was nice to meet Inma Tejedor , the US Retail distributor …and her American husband Carl Kuhlman. TOP PICKS: Living in a walking city we really liked the thick rubber “tractor” soles on the bold, side buckle fushia suede bootie... and a ‘blue is the new black’ leather pair with a comfy pitch. We also were drawn to the dramatic stiletto heels and fringe details of other to the knee kickers too. Kulman clued us in that for Fall 2009, the menswear influence keeps the lower heel and oxford platform selections in demand also. Pumps (kitten heels, stilettos) in luxe Italian leather and satin are also major sell...

MAGRIT: CHIC EUROPEAN SHOE COLLECTION ...

WINS RETAIL BUYERS FROM AROUND THE GLOBE SPRING 2010-FFANY Hilton Hotel, Sixth Avenue/54th Street June 10th, 2009 Words, Images Judith Ecochard It’s an exceedingly rare occurrence in our lives…a serious case of musthave-itis... …but about five years ago, YSL - under the maestro Tom Ford - conjured up a glorious Lucite heel strappy sandal number, with an oversized red velvet flower adorning the upper. The clear, sky-high heels were embedded with sparkling gold confetti pieces , an engineering feat for the feet. The cocktail kickers sold out at the Big Apple store… in a New York minute, naturally. We lived in Washington DC at the time…so securing a pair, was not a problem. Fashion, not exactly a talking point in our nation’s capital at that time... was a plus for us. This was the metropolis where we scooped up the H&M Victor & Rolf collection at a leisurely pace- with like two other guys (who scored all the wedding gowns, HELLO?!)…while those other H&M outlets barely contr...

VINELAND COMFY COLLECTION WITH A HIP ‘TUDE FFANY TRADESHOW: Hilton Hotel NYC June 10th, 2009 Words, Images Judith Ecochard FFANY is a massive shoe bi-annual tradeshow…that’s all business to participants…but induces major envy amongst our gal pals not in the trade. Because, in a way, we are surrounded by the one thing women everywhere can agree on: the love of shoes. VICTORVILLE Off The Beaten Track is a stylish and ergonomically friendly line of kickers that we got to know at Outdoor Retailer in SLC, this past January. Updated 2009 and new Spring 2010 looks that we saw yesterday included fresh colors for several popular styles. INCLUDING: The rounded toe wish flower embossed CORONA (Spring 2010)…with color contrasts (Chianti Navy)…and another color option for the JOHNSTON (velvet brown Fall 2009) that have been big sellers for the brand…and our favs too. Fabric lace up ASHLAND boots, oozing worker/Doc Martens ethos…have a grrrllll vibe while the Mary Jane leather VICTORVILLEs' (a...

DOUGLAS HANNANT: RESORT 2010

THE RIGHT WOMEN HAVE SOMETHING TO WANT Wednesday, June 9th Garment District, NYC Words, Images Judith Ecochard Douglas Hannant knows his customer . Much like the legendary fashion icon Bill Blass, this veteran delivers again, and again the updated chic classics---elegant separates, gowns and dresses that his clientele will ooh and ah… …And happily buy without the consumer guilt that seems to get written about all the time. (Enough). For this luxurious collection, Hannant was inspired by a rich “gypsy” style. The nano second we walked in… the saturated colors of the clothes, simply hung on hangers--- conjured up the deep blue Mediterranean, the turquoise tranquility of the Caribbean waters, the lush greens of the tropics, and fragile corals. Simply transporting…but yes…this is RESORT. Exotic embellishments of sparkling beads and jewels adorned hems, necklines and entire bodices…sexy bold but never vulgar. Hannant doesn’t do vulgar. And we were reminded of one of our favorite designers...
