'Embracing the Outdoor Lifestyle Since 1830'

At the last OR show for summer---we felt "Woolrich"--- the accessibly priced label for this multi-labeled company ---

…was really upping its design elements with targeted collections (core, classics, expedition) for men and women made from performance textiles. (review)

This time, we feel they got it just right with a trip back to the archives, mining the authentic vintage aspects of Woolrich---with a contemporary feel and modernized details for the here and now.

A great deal of thought clearly went into the pieces we saw---and even the new/old school labels tell a story about the brand.

Bumped up vintage well done---we think... not a slavish mimic... a mistake we saw in a lot of women's RTW collections ---and duh, they didn't sell.

Men's Avalanche Jacket $199, Halfhitch Shirt $99, High Seasons Shirt $49

Big Hon Pant $99

Plaid does not dominate menswear the way it did recently-----we feel that works in Woolrich’s favor--- as the company is the original red/black buffalo check master of the universe---dating back to it’s founding.

An authentic print---not some re-tread from the grunge era which worked then (early 90's), splendidly and was because Nirvana/rockers bought their clothes at second-hand shops before they hit it big. Not a deliberate fashion statement.
Exposure Packable Shirt Jacket $189, Exposure Packable Vest $139, Pathfinder Shirt $59

HIGHLIGHTS: The  Exposure jacket for men (800 down fill)---with shirt-like details…including front flap pockets with branded snaps.

This 800 down fill Vest---a handsome interpretation on the I've been workin' on the railroad theme...with pointed hems.

Abington Packable Jacket $179

The women’s Abington Packable Jacket…the pretty cornflower blue lilac---was a nice eyeball contrast to all the bold colors we saw at other lines.

Since 1970, this Artic Parka has been popular…here with a lot of original details…made from a rugged 60/40 cotton ramar fabric = “A blended fabric that provides the comfort and ease of cotton with the durability of nylon. It is fast drying and durable and treated with DuPont Teflon coating.

From the Woolrich Fabric Glossary---that has plenty of other techy explanations for textiles used.

LOVE---the talon zips with leather pulls…classic buffalo check lined hood and inner pocket, pass through for headsets and two way side pockets with satisfying snaps. Relevant for today’s guy with a vintage lean and appreciation for the slim-ish profile. More room on subway seats for fellow passengers---our first thought. LOL!

Pass through for headphones---in plaid!!!!

This men’s Tioga is critical seamed sealed to ward off the elements, and also with the pass through headphones port,

On their own or layered White Pine Vest $149 adds color and interest to any one toned outfit...with Penbrook Snap Mock $45

Ladies' looks mirror the heritage flavor of the guys' wardrobes--- with the same 21st century elements of design.
Moss Point Jacket

The Men's Artic Jacket gets morphed into a cute bomber-ish silhouette for women---with split hood, hand warming pockets with flaps.

The women’s Riley jacket---again with a split hood with pea coat styling that we think can take this look straight to the realms of street chic. What else’s is special are the heritage snaps.

A sales associate in the heirloom vest---that comes in a nice gray too.

The Odella jacket with a latch collar…double zips…with cozy warm synthetic fill that keeps out the cold the way a heavy wool functions, without the weight.

A cap sleeve vest-underneath --- is Fair Isle inspired….
ODELLA PARKA -w/two way zip, media pocket $239

URBAN PICK: Grey and tailored…made of a rugged blend of outdoor tough fabrics.
