Eduardo Piva- Argentina National Institute of Tourism Promotion (l), Consul General Jose L. Perez-Gabiondo (m), Alessandro Papalardo(r) |
Hosted by the gracious Consul General of Argentina, H.E. Ambassador Jose L. Perez-Gabiondo (pictured above-in muddle)- at the New York Public Library…everyone was all smiles (of course)---sipping away at a wide range of flavors and blends, in honor of Malbec World Day.
Argentina’s terroir---as it were, and weather is so varied….from the hot, high altitude north of the Salta region----to the Mendoza area--- tucked alongside the majestic Andes mountains…that the wonderful reds themselves, while sharing a common grape ancestor from Cahors, France…varied considerably…
From the age worthy, BIG lush more tannin driven---to accessible, drink now fruity---to spicy/earthy----to those aged in oak. With interesting blends from niche high-end establishments, to more commercially driven wines.
Offering drinking pleasures for any occasion…to pair with food, or to boldly sip by itself…and very affordable. We average the prices ranged from $8.99 up to $45 retail.
Given the quality---a bargain.
And what a great place to chat about futbol---and that amazing USA vs. Argentina game a few weeks back.
