Anti-Aging Help -Under/Over the Eyes Not new news here-the eye area----above and below the eyeballs themselves--- reveals the first signs of aging for most people-via puffiness, crows feet, fine wrinkles, dark circles, crepey-ness, and/or sagging skin. Any combo thereof... above and beyond inherited facial traits that can show up when one's young...not wanted! For us-the lovely raccoon imprints -aka goggle eyes-that we get from swimming -were taking longer and longer too disappear---and it def. bothers besides looking weird. Hydrating skin with plumping moisturizers-is a must for fines lines and wrinkles...but gravity combined with the an agers loss of collagen and tightening elastin, and environmental stress (hello chlorine)-also played a role....and imo required more than the typical moisturizer packed with hydrating hyaluronic acid. Firming ingredients were musts too (btw for the 411 on that- we like t his blog post from Dr. Perricone). Interesting for us-the past ...

PART ONE SUNSCREEN--- Duh . As the  number of skin cancer occurrences dwarf the next bunch of C.s combined, using sunscreen as an athlete outdoors is a must. And we can tell by the skin quality (or lack there of) who amongst our female competitors, Age-Group wise- uses sunscreen/sunblock- and who doesn't. It is that obvious. IMO physical blocks that are applied and hang out on the surface (not absorbed into the skin) made of - Titanium Dioxide and/or - Zinc Oxide  are the best…and the only thing we use on our face….and most of the time-on the neck down skin too. The longest lasting, physical block sunblocks are tough to wash off- we find it survives multi-hour races- so that is the point. Plus, when we sweat up a storm, physical non-micronized sunblocks don't sting our eyes…for real vs. chemical sunscreen claims of being non-irritating. Not so for us and we have tried about 4 big name sunscreens made of chemical ingredients that penetrate the skin ---that not only annoy...

We try scores of beauty/skincare products…but-what we end up using till the container is empty= that is a product that gets the major love. It works and it works for our active lifestyle-(outdoors, endurance sports)…as well as quality (passing  the urban sophisticate test) and, a MUST- practical to use. Like our wardrobe- we take high/low approach to this…as there are loads of inexpensive products ---and plenty of pricey items that are worth it. IMO.                                                                   Eye MakeUp With all the watery environments and sweat induced activities-we're always bemused by claims of "waterproof" makeup. Yeah, right.  The first test we did 2.5 years back was with MakeUp Forever's at that time fairly new AquaLiner $23-in Dragon Lagoon Green-a bold toned liquid eyeliner ...

NYC We have a gal pal who once told us that--- her female friends always gave her the best gifts-like spa certificates, the latest 'it' makeup/nail polishes-in colors she liked...well, okay - except for the 'rock' on her finger and most recently, the Christian Louboutin knock-out black pumps her husband bought home on a whim, one day... nice . But...it does makes sense for women to be gift thing divas...we're the major decision-making purchasers in this country (just like the majority of registered voters who vote). ---and sometimes the practical/splurgy gifts are the keepers---!
