A Détacher Backstage Beauty- A/W 2014 #NYFW

Chelsea Piers/NYC Mona Kowalska's label,  A Détacher has always had a distinct point of view-somewhat offbeat---for the smart, savvy gals…imo-and for A/W 2014-very spot-on---with wearable ensembles for the cold weather in deep autumnal tones. When we stopped by backstage before the RTW show-the usual backstage calm of this label's show-prevailed We asked the designer her inspiration for this season's offerings-"après sport-after sport" which as athletes-we assumed meant what we would want to wear after a day on the slopes…or a winter's hiking excursion. The models faces had a healthy flush (via Shiseido blushes)…that can be naturally acquired after a day outdoors in the cold. À DETACHER FALL/WINTER - BACKSTAGE SHISEIDO HAIR/MAKE-UP

Mona Kowalska and Haidee Findlay-Levin,Stylist words/images Judith Ecochard Chelsea Piers, NYC nervous? no other beating heart entity was backstage Designer À Detacher Mona Kowlska, seemingly serene backstage prior to her RTW shows...fashions clothes for the smart gals...who appreciate well made separates. For this season- a curated palette in black/white neutrals, feminine Japanese cherry blossom prints, and a few bolts of neon pink, bold red and orange...dominated. Once again, the Shiseido team, straight from Japan-as in only one make-up artist we spoke with owned a few words of English-and our Japanese vocabulary is about 20 words...accompanied with lots of bowing.... ...did the hair and make-up. no clutter Our interpretation, given the cocoon-kimono shapes of much of the apparel we saw---was of the samurai/sumo wrestlers-with a top knot/looped hair and dramatic eyes with fanned out false lashe...
