Beauty/Cosmetic/Skincare Trends The number of attendees at skincare/cosmetic ingredient -raw suppliers trade shows has noticeably been growing since we've been covering this industry. Big and small independent companies alike-looking for the next ingredient to make their products stand out in a crowded marketplace...were strolling the aisles-and packed  the trend forecasting seminars at the go round of In-Cosmetics. Highlights: Waterless products have been around for awhile- our first LUSH bars' of shampoo/conditioner + popular bath bomb buys at one of their first stores -in Vancouver,  British Columbia-was about 24 years ago. Now fresh drinking water (and the lack there of ) -and the industries that suck it up-are well known. Using less of this precious commodity- along with less non-recyclable-eco packaging-were two standout trends we hope become completely mainstream in the skincare/beauty/cosmetics productions. A predictable theme for the holiday seasons is to de-stress..and a whole bunch of CALMing cosmetics and ingredients ( like soothing multi-tasker calamine) aims to minimize " nature's alarm system " cortisol's  negative impact on skin. Part 3-In-Cosmetics A lot of instagram ready looks are aided by topical temporary fixes akin to IRL Photoshop... At In-Cosmetics...we saw plenty of raw materials/ingredients to help. Sensient Cosmetics Technologies-had really teeny teeny teeny  Natupure® fibers--they're made from hemp shives/sunflower hulls/ charcoal (!)...that when put in a foundation formula like their Reconstructing Fiber Foundation-provides insta  smoothing canvas-wrinkle/pore perfection-acting as microscopic fillers-primer base like with oil/sweat absorption and mattifying properties-. Can be put into mascara and hair formulas too for added volume/length. Company also displayed a soy infused foundation-non GMO sourced-because today's customer is def expecting multi-tasking serum -treatment-coverage...saving a step on skin care regimes. We've been covering these kinds of events for years-learning where/how both big companies and individuals-source their products/ingredients. Open secret: Sometimes the splashy marketed products and cult favs contain the same ingredients from the same source... or private label manufacturers. an exception for global brand-albeit smallish one- natural leaning  Tata Harper  Skincare doesn't out-source formulations for its products...'crafted' at an in-house lab acc...
