High Line Hotel/NYC The Ecclesiastical underpinnings of the now Highline Hotel-is a spacious-serene setting to pause and think about the clothes we were looking at-by designer Katie Gallagher. It's easy to just breeze in and out of the mounds of presentations we go to for NYFW-without taking a moment to reflect on what is actually the thought process underlying what we see. But here we did. Titled FANTASM-" (the original spelling of the modern-day word phantasm, which describes something that exists in perception only)" the abundance of sheerness  in the fabrics used…was a interpretation of-and quoting here… t he themes of color and colorlessness and the inconstant or impermanent nature of things were central to this collection.  The illusory essence of the word Fantasm captures the idea of seeing the true complexion of something just before it fades away — like the changing appearance of naturally occurring elements like dew or smoke just before they diminis...

Mercifully- no fire drill necessary packed venue-but at least AC was working well The Raven, 55 Gansevoort St, NYC Late models, a booked (over) venue, steamy temps=late start and a long line. But the presentation by Katie Gallagher of her S/S 2014 RTW collection was very well done---and worth the wait.  This downtown stylish creator showed her romantic side---or melancholy (reminded us of the New Romantic music thing going on in the late 80'searly 90's-but with cleaner edge)...showing very wearable, pretty separates and swimsuits/bodysuits. A few frills but we would think of these polished outfits as more clean minimalist than fussy. MADE@Standard Hotel, NYC words/images Judith Ecochard Katie Gallagher's Spring 2013 collection, titled "Everything Forever" ---with thoughts on past/present "...the concept of rebirth and purity..."was a terrific outing of very feminine form fitting silhouettes-in leathers, sheer textiles-draped/ruched--- in neutral tones (ivory, crème, raven and metallic slate)...that had an ethereal, haunting air---- Moody, gothic, with a Game of Thrones vibes...forest/trees/nature...we thought the apparel was sophisticated, modern ---and the hair/make-up/nails---creatively meshed with the overall concept of the ode to "remnants of our past..." that are ever-present. http://www.meganisaacs.com ...ear cuffs by Megan Issacs Topknots---effortless looking (ha ha)---loved!!!
