DANESE GALLERY, West 24th Street
NYC

Interesting...we wondered why Barbara Tfrank...a grown-up women's luxury collection of vintage inspired dress, opera coats etc (think what the stars would wear-not the starlets)...
-would depart from the usual locale for her clothes---the glam Carlyle Hotel on the UES...for a Chelsea Art gallery...
And the second we arrived on the 2nd floor space, we went, "OH, that explains it."
The Danese Gallery had a magnificent exhibit of artist Larry Poon's saturated with layers of exuberant colored, works of art---with no competition hanging on those white walls of the naturally bright space.
These complex feasts for the eyes (we didn't dare run our hands along the canvas---though we wanted to)-
...influenced Tfrank to design similarly richly toned silks...in patterns and in a solid palette that included teal and peacock blues, orchid pink, and persimmon.
And we are sure, that the couturier like polished dresses---are masters of detailed construction on the inside too...all provided the support and exacting fit one would expect of a certain class of garments.
Maybe with a nod to the star's LA based denim/leather wardrobe...modern mixed with the classics this outing with a denim collaboration with the high-end Henry Duarte---
THAT unfortunately, we didn't see as we had a packed schedule.
No doubt, these separates have their own vibe of sophisticated elegance as these utterly wonderful silk dress and collar opera coats do.
