Fashion Weeks are instantaneous gratifiers---thanks to live streamed, web cast shows, the social media hordes, and buy what you like now with a credit card---at the upcoming S/S 2011 Burberry show, for example---and soon to be ubiquitous IMHO.
And the make-up. Accessible, affordable, fun and if done right, everyone looks great---no matter your clothing size.
Even customized colors for a collection can be had with a bit of blending what's out there.
We pay a lot of attention to makeup and hair trends during Fashion Weeks and so far for S/S 2011 in the Big Apple, the deep dark fake tans of last season’s Spring/Summer 2010 shows---that romped the runway or struck poses on a presentation platform…are NOT HERE THIS SEASON.
Though a dark hue will probably be sprayed on bathing suit catwalkers at Gottex and Rosa Cha, showing at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, Lincoln Center this week.
What we saw from day one…was beauty…enhancing all ethnic groups (this is NYC, after all).
There has been some artful maquillage---but even these looks look cool, not kooky.
At Suzanne Rae we ran into a familiar face, James Vincent (2nd from left) ---a leading light (Director of Education and Artist Relations) at one of our most ‘we so look forward to’ tradeshows---The Makeup Show.
Working his magic using Make Up For Ever Professional (www.makeupforever.com) goodies,
...we actually learned a neat trick. For cheeks that look naturally healthy, apply the HD HIGH DEFINITION BLUSH $25 in Pink and Peach tones underneath the foundation:
“So it glows through.”
The hair was amazingly complicated. Masterminded by Marcel---for “a 60’s style that’s Tammy Wynette” ---with volume, but “contemporary with a braid.”
Can’t say we could ever try this at home…the spraying, (Redken, Bumble & Bumble)
Backcombing, etc…but
For “real girls” (our words FYI)--- “spray hair, tease, loose curls and twist it back into a double French twist.”
K.
At Irina Shabayeva’s fabulous presentation (more on that soon)…the models looked more gorgeous than they probably are, thanks to Smashbox Cosmetics applied by the creative (and super nice) Kelly Tabone and her team.
The faces glowed with soft shimmer for a fresh dewy, evening look that completely worked with the glam evening attire, including what we thought were stunning bridal worthy gowns and a few high end day wear ensembles--- by the Project Runway alum.
Products used include High Definition Healthy FX Foundation $38, Blush Rush in Radiance and Bare $24 each, Halo Hydrating Perfecting Powder $59, Center Stage Eyeshadow Trio---icy pink, shimmery rose bronze, matte rose bronze $28, Lash DNA Mascara $19, Eye Beam Double Ended Brightener $22 (makes eyes pop), The Nude Lip Pencil liner $16, Photo-Finish Lipstick in Charming $22-sheer--- with Lip Enhancing Gloss—Illume $18-a pale nude shade.
