COOL GADGETS Outdoor Retailer F/W 2015-NUDOWN Outerwear

SLC/OR
Mt. Whitney Vest-w/ moisture wicking Bamboo/Charcoal Mesh

Like  our recent visit to the cool gadgets laden International Consumer Electronics Tradeshow---stuff aimed at the outdoorsy crowd also serves up inventive ways to make time-in this case- under the open skies -fabulously tricked out with technology.

Apparel usually gets its cutting edge performance features via the textiles used-and design features…generally speaking.

Women's Squaw Peak Vest-adjustable silicone gripper waist…keeps cold out-Primaloft Gold collar insulation, Polartec WindPro insert panels,
But as humans who switch out our layers (basic, mid, jacket/coat) every 10 degrees F.----we were beyond intrigued with NuDown "…the future of warmthpersonalized climate control..." outerwear specialist that counts on patent pending-proprietary technology----to manufacture jackets/vests capable of customizable levels of insulation via a pocket-hidden air pump that inflates-with compressed air- (more warmth) and deflates (less warmth)…dubbed NuTech.

Moisture wicking Bamboo/Charcoal
HUH-curious as to how that happened-until we walked into the booth and an immediate lightening bulb went off---as prior coverage of KLYMIT…a company with similar inflatable stuff (via argon gas)…convinced us that this way to layer up-works…PLUS real test results...

QUOTING HERE:
NuDown jackets and vests were tested at the Institute for Environmental Research (k-‐ state.edu/ier/), the renowned thermal research facility at Kansas State University and were awarded the best Clo (Clothing Insulation Value) warmth-‐to-‐weight ratio in comparison to similar fit and function down jackets and vests.
