Fragrance Foundation Awards 2013 Celebrates Top Scents and Innovators

The Fragrance Foundation Awards

With Big Winners...
Taylor Swift --- Fragrance Celebrity of the Year and
Justin Bieber’s Girlfriend Wins Top Honors for Women-People's Choice

Alice Tully Hall---the oversized flower walls-surrounded the building...so much nicer that metal police barriers---!

It's rare we do a Red Carpet but as wearers of perfumes -albeit niche scents discovered at the Elements tradeshow and the fab downtown boutique- Osswald...we jumped at the chance to take some pics prior to the big event of the Fragrance Foundation- in Alice Tully Hall.

Highlights:

on left -in custom FrancoKaufman-looking stunning- Elizabeth Musmanno, President of The Fragrance Foundation....who noted during the ceremony...“The Fragrance Foundation Awards have been referred to as the ‘Oscars’ of our industry because we honor the year’s highest achievements,” ...we are thrilled to come together to celebrate and congratulate all the finalists and winners.” On the right-Jill Belasco looks amazing-in a iconic red vintage Valentino gown

Beautiful -no matter which angle-Valentino red gowns and custom FrancoKaufman=classics

in the background---what else-fans of Taylor Swift-and  moms await their idol

in Balmain

plenty of security and pr peeps double duty handbag holders

twin models-Aussie Jordan and Zac Stenmark-fun guys-great sense of humor--- and really-you can tell them apart.

handsome---in Ralph Lauren+Thomas Pink

one of the best newish menswear designers to watch/ covet--- AND CFDA winners (bravo)...Public School-left-Maxwell Osborne+Dao-Yi Chow with his wife, Candis. FYI tailored-hip- fused with streetwear creds ---New York City based.

Poet Richard Blanco- the inaugural poet-which was a way" to bring poetry to different people..."  also did the honors, here. The art of scent and poetry are similar though "smell is hard to write about," he told us.  His fav scent inspiration-Cleopatra who wore rose oil to meet her lover Marc Anthony.

Dana Carvey-a great interview-and he had many!!!!

LOVE-how he does things old-school-i.e. writes down notes---containing themes/thoughts for the night ---on yellow legal sized paper. Hilarious.
Host Comedian and Emmy Award Winner Dana Carvey had the Red Carpet snappers and interviewers laughing hysterically---smart and generous with his time. No doubt he told versions of the same answers to no doubt-the same questions---but like the pro he is---he kept it fresh. No wonder he is on his second year as host. Or as he proclaimed "...this is one of the top five fragrance shows in the Lincoln Center area...with the best smelling audience in the world."
Dana Carvey answered this ? a gazillion times-"I'm wearing Banana Republic"--- suit (yup-they should gift him, at the very least)...and Macy's shirt and Kmart underwear. Talk about keeping "it humble" ---he noted how he was one of five kids and his dad was a teacher...though now "a 1%er...don't hate me." If not for comedy -he would be in Italy- reading the classics--and he meant it-recounting how Lorne Michael gave this SNL alum a leather bound collection of Shakespeare.

His fragrance-'Wake Up and Smell the Carvey"---like a mood ring-the aroma would change with one's mood...took years to develop in a lab by Swiss chemists, thereby escaping our nation's big databases. (For Now). And fyi-he was wearing "a neutral scent"---meaning power scented deodorant

Fashion designers Ken Kaufman(right) and Isaac Franco (left) of KaufmanFranco --- we had the pleasure of seeing their RTW collection at Lincoln Center during NYFW!

Richard Blanco, Isaac Franco and Ken Kaufman (both partial to Hermes colognes)--- with model Kiara Kabukuru-in a dress by the designers. Congrats ---this fashion duo is designing the AMerican Airlines uniform for that company's 70,000 employees. Impressive.
mesh net insert-this fitted, one shoulder evening gown is beautifully made and fit par excellence---and the color-an golden olive green-looked great with her skin tone

from India-bangles belonging to Dita Von Teese's rep
so elegant-this coif-the french twist with added height at the crown...shiny, sleek and totally suitable for this young actress

perfection-actress Jessica Szohr of "the Internship" and formerly of TV's Gossip Girls...

close-up of her beaded dress
Jessica Szohr-in a sparkling frock that must have weighed a lot

Dita Von Teese---working on her fourth perfume-"more dangerous" which she s conjuring up-inspired by vintage scents-from decanters she collects. Expect more animalistic aromas  "extinct" inspirations-versus florals. In a goddess-like gown by Maria Lucia Hohan, YSL shoes, and

There's no surprise why everyone loves actress Connie Britton-here in a lovely Zac Posen dress---authentic as they come. As a star of the hit tv series Nashville (playing Queen of Country-Rayna James)-with her in a scene---we're like-not noticing anyone else. That incredible.
Taylor Swift-love the make-up---black lined eyes with glimmery powder blue on top of the black-extended into a slight cat's eye shape, neutral taupe-y brown as definition above the lids in the sockets---black mascara-pinky peach glossy lips. soft blush (pinky peach with a hint of bronze) on the apples of her cheeks- a bit of shimmer above. Classic make-up that is season-less.

adorbs...and yes---very excited

Taylor Swift-time with her fans---love the back of this white Emilio Pucci dress...

and then like Glenda---she's gone
