ATHLETA SWIMWEAR S/S 2011

Editor's Preview, NYC

Athleta is an American label, GAP owned- that is nipping at the running heels of Lululemon...for the hearts, minds and bodies of athletic active women---or those who like to dress the part.

Recently we took in the upcoming swimwear collection that debuts in March...just in time for Spring breaks from coast to coast.

The large assortment of swimwear we saw fell into multiple mix and match solid and print color waves...

---and functionality: Swim (with underwire top options,

Surf and...

Performance Swim...the later made from high tech, quick drying Myrel fabric.

Tops and bottoms are sold separately---

Fully adjustable straps---plus accurate cup sizes ensure a perfect fit.

Both the Swim Surf collections ---come in assorted styles to enhance all body types...

We thought this built in tummy panel in a swim dress, built in top support...and internal mesh briefs in the swim dresses and skirts---a smart, funcitonal option for those that want to cover-up a bit more.

SPF+50 fabric...in the tops where you want the sun protection...and performance swim pieces mad eof a nylon spandex--- ---because of the dense weave of the fabric...not because of a fabric treatment that could wash out.

Plus some pieces are highly chlorine resistant...made with X Lycra for excellent shape retention---no bag and sags.

The band in the surf tops are supportive enough for low impact sports...while underwire tops are ideal for high impact ativities like beach volleyball---naturally wicking too.

What we wear in the pool to keep warm---rash guards...excellent as sun cover-ups.

Cute---a tankini with sheer sides ---and a flattering neckline.

true performance fit---multi-functional skorts...

PLUS:

Lifestyle pieces...cotton crotchet, beach cover-ups with internal shelf bras.

Pull on skirt made of cotton modal...great hand feel-super soft.

our top pick---pretty paisley

DOTS SPRING/SUMMER 2011 PREVIEW

Bryant Park Hotel, NYC

Words/Images Judith Ecochard

Cleveland based DOTS---is a fast forward, 400 store entity that is aimed at the “curvier” gals who want trend on ensembles at H+M/Forever 21 price points.

We took in a preview recently---and thought the casual separates and accessories were stylish and looked pricier--- with almost all destined to be tagged under $40.

Beginning with March 2011 deliveries---DOTS will have constant new product in its stores all during the warmer months---and the fits---American cuts in sizes 0-24.

The major trends of 2011…

African Safari---with animal and ethnic prints…

70’s Bohemian Chic…a fun take on the Gypsy with ruffles, peasant loose sheer tops,  flared leg denim,

--- a step away from all those hard edged, Rocker Girl looks.

Nautical stripes give sea legs to all…. sailor inspired.

Silhouettes that look flatter all body types….

A flowing top---with Dolman sleeves

Pretty career dresses

Cute shorts…including cuffed

Our top look---this motorcross jacket.

DOTS was big on the every day take on sweat pants…little less sloppy than regular leisure wear ----and maybe for those who look liked too squeezed in sausages in jeggings.

Cargo style---and easy fit denim---rolled up, drawstring, lots of stretch.

PLUS: Accessories----several styles of shoes (wedges, flats, stacked pumps...) and tall boots…($24-$28)

Double belts and purses ($12-$24).
