REVAMPED DEPARTMENT STORE MERCHANDISE FOR FALL 2010
Morgan’s Hotel, NYC

Back in May, we took in a Back-To-School preview for JC Penney that we held off posting till it hit the stores.
As we are shopping the teen sizes lately (for value reasons…and women’s cuts are sometimes too wide for us)…
---Our editorial eye was not only on what that Gen Y / Echo boomers would wear…but also what the waaayyyy out of school bunch might purchase.
The assortment of separates was naturally denim focused…in rinses every which way. Note---we think the solid dark rinses are the most ‘dress-up'…and that te worn out finish goes in cycles and is wearing a bit now.
Casual military, utility and studded details are carry-overs from Spring---and show up on the jeans, jackets, and vests. A few puffers, sleekly shaped-like the above jacket...are in the mix.
Mad for the big buffalo plaid for guys and gals---the latter with nice studded designs of the yoke of the shirt ---that’s gently gathered at the waist for shape.
There’s a mix of the sweet/edgy in this leather jacket with ruffles…well done.
Cardigans and jackets in bold colors…always look great when paired with the neutrals.
Private and exclusives labels to JC Penney include American Living for guys, Olsen Boyd (yup the twins-channeling the iconic looks from London), I heart Ronson, and Decree (in-house).
ACCESSORIES: Ballet flats, caged platforms, booties, satchels, oversized scarves in great graphics...here!
FYI: JC Penney has it’s own testing labs ---we were told, going by the name Retail Testing Laboratory…where all dyes are tested for color fastness---as in fabric color retention, washability and shrinkage.
Making these gently priced separates even more of a value---as the apparel will stand up to wear and tear.
