NO EXCESS – CONTEMPOARY CASUAL DUTCH LABEL TAKES ON THE USA

Having just returned from Berlin, Germany’s massive Bread & Butter show for trendy denim/streetwear/casual wear attire---our eyeballs were trained to spot the edgier clothes …and expect a huge dose of hospitality to go with it.

Figures that a handsome bar, aromatic espresso service and nibbles to nosh came courtesy of a European denim based brand …No Excess

An international presence (in 20 countries), the company hails from the Netherlands. We immediately thought the separates that are hitting stores now=== in time for Fall 2010…will capture some Yankee admiration.

And not one piece in the famous Orange that splashed around the globe during the World Cup.

We saw--- clean-cut silhouettes that veer toward trim, not tightly fitted (like some Euro brands), no baggy volume---dark rinses for denim, cool hybrid sporty/streetwear vibe in the hoodies,  jackets/sweaters.

---functional/fashionable details inspired by the less kooky looks off the runways of Milan-without the designer price tag.

Top picks---a shawl collar, flat knit cotton sweater---with two pockets...a trendster take on  Grandpa's style...

No wonder hip, fashion forward boutiques like Fred Segal picked up the label. They “get it.”
