H&M & SONIA RYKIEL PREVIEW AT GRAND PALAIS, PARIS

H & M Hennes & Mauritz FANTASY, MAGIC, FASHION! SONIA RYKIEL POUR H&M'S UNFORGETTABLE PARIS PARTY

DECEMBER 1st, 2009:

WOW! H & M's launch party for Parisian designer Sonia Rykiel debuted her capsule collection of knitwear (ETA February 20th 2010) and lingerie (ETA December 5th) for the retail giant...in an over the top spectacle way that only the Euros seem to get. A hot ticket, we're sure.

Ohhh LàLà.

A sparkling Eiffel Tower was created in the Grand Palais and rose, sphinx-like above seated guests---

---who then watched glam groups of dancing actresses, circus performers... and model -aden floats emerging from a re-created Arc de Triomphe--- all attired in the collection...doing the catwalk thing in a way we wish all RTW shows were/are like.

"It was all about the brilliance of Paris and of Sonia Rykiel. We wanted to give our guests a story-like experience, let them enter a fantasy world where they could discover the Sonia Rykiel pour H&M collections and let themselves go", says Nathalie Rykiel, artistic director and president of Sonia Rykiel.

"It was the most magical evening. Sonia Rykiel is so totally Parisian, the epitome of chic. This is the spirit of the Sonia Rykiel pour H&M collections that shone through at the party last night. It was such a thrill to work with a fashion icon like Sonia Rykiel. We are really happy with the collections, which we feel is 100 percent Sonia Rykiel. The lingerie collection is really the perfect Christmas gift", says Margareta van den Bosch, H&M's creative advisor.

WE SAY: Love to have been there.
IMHO: Maybe not the queues for Jimmy Choo's collection in NYC (or eBay hopefuls ha ha)---but should sell-out in the USA if it's made well and priced better than say, Victoria Secrets. And if it's cut for the chunkier/bigger hipped American bodies.
