We actually read email blasts…hoping to get the scoop on beauty brands that work, apply well, smell decent... and are inexpensive.
e.l.f. Cosmetics –a line sold at Big Kmart, Target and online…is paraben free, without chemicals …and is a mineral makeup line that everyone can splurge on.
Hot looks for Fall 2009- that are essentially classics by now--- are either the smoky eye neutral shiny lips, or bold red lips and dark feathery eyelashes.
To achieve the looks either start with a neutral shade (like Natural) or any other nude shade, and brush it all over eye lids, then, take a darker shade and apply it on the lid, only up to the crease. Achelle Dunaway, the brand’s creative light likes e.l.f. Mineral Eyeshadows in Royal (a dark purple) and Partier (a royal blue). “They’re different from black, but still dark enough to give a smoky eye.” ($3).
Use a liquid eyeliner to outline the eyes above and below the lid with the Waterproof Eyeliner Pen, $1 (available in Black, Coffee, Midnight, Plum and Ash,) and complete your look with a nude gloss like Super Glossy Lip Shine in Goddess, $1.
For the classic red lip, try e.l.f.’s new Studio Lip Primer and Plumper, $3 to prep, then top with moisturizing e.l.f. Mineral Lipstick in Cherry Red, $5, followed by Hypershine Lip Gloss in Vixen, $1. Widen those peepers with a swipe of Mascara, $1 and violà…the look for practically free.
